Why does my computer shut down when I install the presenter module?
Occasionally, when upgrading from GP3 to GP4, users may encounter an installation failure that shuts down the install process and restarts your computer.
You may also get a 'presenter module install failed. try again?' message.

Note:You must have administrator rights to install the presenter module on a PC.
To find out if you have administrator rights, see this article.

Follow these steps to correct the problem:

  1. Delete this directory from the hard drive C:\Program Files\Common Files\GatherWorks

  2. Right click on "My Computer" (found on the desktop or in the Start menu) and select "Properties" (The System Properties dialog will open).

  3. Select the "Hardware" tab on the dialog and then click the "Device Manager" button.

  4. Expand the "Display Adapters" by clicking on the plus sign in front of it.

  5. If you see "GatherWorks, Inc. Display Driver" in the list, right click on it and select "Uninstall" (you can close the System Properties dialog after this step).

  6. From your "Control Panel", select "Add or Remove Programs"

  7. Uninstall these applications if you have them installed:

    -OmniViewer
    -OmniPresenter
    -OmniView
    -OmniView Presenter Module

  8. Reboot your PC.

  9. Open the GP4 application and check the Tools menu for the 'Load Presenter Module' option.

  10. If the option is in the menu, select it and the module should install (it WILL NOT be there in the majority of the cases).

  11. Reboot your PC again and you are ready to present using GP4.
